Shows: A Silent Film

by Jennifer Murtha

Finding out two days before they were playing the Brighton Music Hall, A Silent Film rocked their way into my top live show list Friday night. The quartet from Oxford England captivated the audience with their musical talent and great performance energy for an hour long set. Playing a few new songs from an upcoming album they are working on along with their popular indie rock radio hits You Will Leave a Mark and Driven by Their Beating Hearts. I was surround by people singing along, word for word and screaming out to the band the next songs they’d like to hear. Extremely gracious and loving the kudos the band left the crowd wanting more even after announcing the last song of their set. It was refreshing to see a band so into playing their music and getting up close and personal with the crowd during the performance.

After the set I overheard multiple people in the audience comment how blown away and impressed they were with what they just had witnessed. One guy even told me that he felt this would be a night where the opener would be better than the headliner.

I had a chance after the show to chat with the band briefly to express to them how great the show was and how I can’t wait for them to come back to Boston. Once again gracious and polite they signed a CD for me and thanked me for coming.

Continuing the tour for a few more dates with Civil Twilight, I see this band quickly moving to a headlining tour and hopefully coming back to the area so I can have the pleasure of seeing a fantastic live show again.
