Shows: The Kills

by Jennifer Murtha

Just like the rest of the sold out crowd in attendance at the Royale Tuesday night I was extremely excited for the Kills to take the stage. They won me over when I saw them for the first time at the Austin City Limits Music Festival a few years ago. Playing a mid-afternoon time slot, the hottest part of the day, in typical Texas form it was a comfortable 110 degrees but they still got the crowd up on their feet and rocking. That impression stuck me and I was instantly a fan.

Last night Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince strutted on stage and proceed to blow the lid off the place. Opening up the show with No Wow they moved through a fantastic mix of all 4 albums. Of course focusing on new material from their latest release, Blood Pressures, the duo captivated the audience with their rock and roll swagger.

No Wow
Future Starts Slow
Heart is Beating
Kissy Kissy
U.R.A. Fever
DNA
Satellite
Tape Song
Baby Says
You Don’t Own the Road
Sour Cherry

Encore:
Last Goodbye

Fried My Little Brain

As a Polaroid and of course photography fan, I also have to mention the cool Polaroid gallery they are contributing to while on the tour. Check them out here.
