What is better than free? One of your favorite bands playing a free show! Well that was the case for me this weekend when …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead helped the Belmont with their grand opening week. The swanky redecorated club donned some awesome photography on the walls including a massive shot of Austin’s own Ghostland Observatory.

The night of rock was started off by the kick ass duo, Not in the Face. They stirred up a ton of buzz during SXSW with their raw sound that was definitely something I quickly became a fan of. Their energy was infectious!

Trail of Dead took the stage with everything turned up to 11 despite the cops coming by asking the owners to turn it down a notch. Minor equipment issues led to some fantastic banter and we all even learned that Conrad and Jason had once worked together at the Frost building (which can be seen from the stage of the venue). As if the night could not get any better, I received awesome news straight from Jason Reece that the band is heading off to Germany in a few weeks to record a new album that will be released in October. Can’t wait!
